God is the Creator of the universe. He has eternally existed in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are coequal and together are one God.
Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is coequal with the Father and Holy Spirit. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days, ascended to Heaven, and will return again someday to earth to reign as King.
The Holy Spirit is coequal with the Father and the Son of God. He is present in the world to make men aware of their need for Jesus Christ. He also lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation. He provides the Christian with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. The Baptism in the Holy Spirit, an empowerment for service, is available to every believer as a separate experience from salvation. The believer who has received the Baptism in the Holy Spirit will experience the manifestation of speaking in other tongues. We believe all the gifts of the Spirit, as listed in 1 Corinthians 12, are for today.
The Bible is God’s Word to us. It was written by human authors, under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs about living. Because it is inspired by God, it is truth without error.
Originally created in the image of God, man yielded to sin in the garden, resulting in spiritual death and separation from God for all men. The only remedy for the sinner is salvation through Christ. In the believer’s life, sin results in broken fellowship with The Father, remedied only by repentance and confession.
Salvation is God’s free gift to us, but we must accept it. We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only by trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can anyone be saved from sin’s penalty. When we turn from our self-ruled life and turn to Jesus in faith we are born again, or saved. This eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith.
People were created to exist forever. We will either exist eternally separated from God by sin, or eternally with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is hell. To be eternally in union with Him is eternal life in Heaven. Heaven and hell are real places of eternal existence.
Baptism is symbolic of the death, burial and resurrection of Christ. Once we have accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior, baptism is a way for us to publicly declare our new life in Christ. It is also a step of obedience based on God’s commands and allows us to follow the example of Jesus, who submitted himself to baptism to “fulfill all righteousness.”
Healing for the physical body is part of the believer’s inheritance in Christ. When Christ redeemed man from sin, He also redeemed us from sickness and disease. Healing may be appropriated by the faith of the believer, and is ministered through other methods, such as the laying on of hands.
